Rhapsody in Blue

Art Exhibition

Saturday, May 12 - Sunday, June 10, 2018

Rhapsody in Blue was composed by George Gershwin almost 100 years ago.

The noted characteristics of “rhapsody” can be easily applied to visual art, as it has been to music and literature. It features a range of juxtaposed moods, that are “episodic, yet free flowing in structure”, intense, enthusiastic, ecstatic, expressive, spontaneous and improvisational.

Blue has been an important color in art since ancient times. Lapis lazuli was made into ultramarine, the most expensive color in history, during the Renaissance. It is now and has been a favorite color of many.

Blue is “the color most associated with intelligence, knowledge, calm and concentration”. Thus, AiM invites you to compose your next art pieces inspired by these "blue feelings".
