Spotlight on Artist

Jill Garity

Jill Garity is a native Virginian and earned a B.A. from the University of Miami and pursued a business career for many years. Experimenting with painting throughout her life, she picked it up seriously in 2006 and attended the Vander See School. Jill is strongly influenced by the American Tonalist movement and feels that no one style should dictate the creation of a paintings. Jill herself may use a tranquil palette or a more colorful one to express the romance, sensuality, and stark beauty of a rural landscape.

Jill lives in the Virginia Piedmont and spends many days roaming the countryside of the Blue Ridge by foot or horseback. She retains the images of these landscapes in her memory and calls them up when she stands in front of the canvas. Jill exhibit regularly at a variety of juried shows, including the Artists in Middleburg, Va.
