Free Virtual Beginner's Art Class with J Douglas

 Artists in Middleburg (AiM)

invites you to join us for a light-hearted and fun, beginners art class with J Douglas!

Come and Zoom with this international, award winning artist, J Douglas!

You can paint/draw along or just watch, it’s up to you!

No experience needed.

J will be painting with oils. But with the technique he will be sharing, you will be able to use acrylic, watercolor and even charcoal. He will be painting on an 8 x10 inch canvas and using raw umber and terpenoid, with a very wet technique. You will also need something to wipe the paint with. Don’t use toilet paper … we all know how valuable THAT is. 

He is passionate about one thing … the thought that anyone can create art if they want to. If you are a beginner you should expect to be at the beginning. There is no magic fairy dust that makes you an artist. Study, time, patient, and rinse and repeat! Fail sometimes, have victories on other times. Even seasoned artists have their good and bad days. This could be your inspired first step into a fun new world of art, or a the boost you need to continued stepping with into your passion.

Remember to bring your creative juices with you. (Whatever beverage you like. No judgement here.)

We will be creating a Grisaille. Primarily brown and white to create the values. You are welcome to use any color in place of brown.

Water for watercolor

Kneaded eraser for charcoal

3/4”, 1’2”, and 1/8” brush (Just a variety of sizes

No optional attitude. It must be a fun one.
