Buswell, Carol- Nanny-Maid- Chauffeur-artist-oil-on-panel

The work is never done. Yet, beneath the maternal exterior is an artist, and her work is never done. There’s always a composition being worked out, a color palette being analyzed, and every spare moment dedicated to her practice. Nanny. Maid. Chauffeur. Coleman_Karen_Beginnings (Green Heron)_colored pencil and watercolor

A friend is very lucky to have Green Herons nesting each year in the trees along the lakeshore in her back yard. Knowing that I love to paint feathers and eggs, she collected some empty eggshells for me after the birds had hatched last year and the fledglings had left the nest. In addition to the lovely turquoise-blue eggs, I included a feather from the adult bird. Beginnings (Green Heron) Colored pencil, watercolor 14 x 12 $275 Karen Coleman

Flynn Mara Promise Acrylic on Canvas

Flynn Mara Promise Acrylic on Canvas

Ever a fan of the horizon line, I used that horizontal plane to guide long brush strokes back and forth across the canvas with thick, undiluted paint. I deliberately used one brush for the entire piece adding and blending a minimal number of colors to keep the image cohesive and pleasing. Promise Acrylic on canvas 16 x 20 $285 Mara Flynn

Holdridge, Sherri-Asleep in the Meadow

Holdridge, Sherri-Asleep in the Meadow

While hiking in Point Reyes, California, I came across this beautiful scene. I came across this deer sleeping in the middle of a meadow. While on safari in Botswana, in the late afternoon light we passed this lone elephant Bull grazing on the grasses. I overexposed this image and created it in Black and White. Hopkins, Laura-Groundhog Day

Hopkins, Laura-Groundhog Day

This winter scene, like much of my work, is painted from memory, imagination, and study of the work of historic painters. I paint in the tradition of the American Tonalists of the 19th century whose contemplative and poetic works were thought to provide solace and respite from a war-torn and increasingly industrial world. It is my hope that viewers of my work find a place of rest and comfort. Groundhog Day Oil on linen wrapped panel 13.5 x 15.5 $350 Laura Hopkins
