Garity J Into The Night oilMost of my paintings are of places real & imagined. They begin with rough shapes & a pattern of light & dark & are then developed with layers of opaque paint & glazes. Under layers peeking through providing interest & visual texture. Use of the palette knife in places also provides a randomness that provokes creativity & often takes me on a path I had not planned. All in all, the painting is more of a reaction to the process than a blueprint. Myles, Steve-Morning in AcadiaMy current journey is to find a balance between detailed realism and bold impressionism. I don’t want my work to look like a photograph, nor do I want it to look like something I might have done in the third grade. To accurately render an object with an optimum number of brush strokes is my goal in landscape, still life and portraiture. Morning in Acadia Oil on canvas 20 x 24 $380 Steve Myles | Mulvena, Danny-The EpiphanyAt some time in the past or future, a group of cattle breaks out of their pasture and wanders down to the seaside. Not to be deterred, we drove down the winding road to the light. The mist had enshrouded the light in a veil of fog, giving it a ghostly quality. The waves were pounding the rocks below, and the rain was reduced to a mist, perfect to capture the moment. Portland Head Light Photography 12 x 15 $175 Judith Lillis |
