Scherer_Sylvia_Shall We Dance_ Acrylic_gThe motive of this painting goes back to my childhood. My father taught his 2 horses to dance. The Tarashikomi technique used is an ancient Japanese one. It consists of miniature pourings applied one after the other before the paint dries. The paint is then manipulated. The gilding is done by applying the gold leaf on designs made with the glue on the canvas so that no lines of the gold leaf squares are discernible. Shall We Dance? Choyce, Cathy-Sticking The LandingLight, color, drama, and connection - These are the main components that I always strive for when I am creating a piece of art. In creating Sticking The Landing, I wanted to capture the energy of the equine spirit and show the unbridled joy of running, bucking and unbridled freedom. Cadenas, Debbie-Horse Head StudyHorse Head Study Acrylic on canvas with horse bit and sculpture 28 x 24 $350 Debbie Cardenas | Plum, Silas-Just A Green HorseMy work expresses and quantifies the subtle and insidious nature of constant calculation. By the conscious re-purposing of formerly valuable objects, I provide a new context. This re-contextualization, from simple integration into color fields to elaborate new collage action scenes, give fresh life and value to each formerly dead object. Value is reassessed, and the reflexive and endless cycle continues. Just a Green Horse Mixed media 22 x 28 $900 Silas Plum | Vigano, Oscar-THE ENGLISHI emphasized in its eyes the peaceful look of the English, Perhaps waiting for that apple treat? Eye expressions and body movement provide life to this painting, color harmony provides depth, while the dynamism of the angles gives it movement. The English Acrylic 26 x 20 $550 Oscar Vigano |
Vigano, Oscar-THE GAITA rider holding tight, the front & back legs at just the right angle. Trotting with one hoof on the ground, the others up & proceeding toward the next step. The head & crest of the English gracefully drawing a virtual T. Straight lines in the background contrasting the dynamic pose of the mare captures the relaxing feeling of a horse show afternoon. The beauty of the perfect gait & the glory of the afternoon sun bathing the scene inspired me. The gold leafed Shikishi boards covered with the thinnest of rice papers is unforgiving when manipulating the thickened mineral/vegetable and binder pigment with a brush or by tilting until the desired effect is achieved. The horse's musculature, personality and intent present added difficulties. Silver Mane Triptych I Chinese watercolor Pomo 12 x 36 $1,800 Sylvia Scherer |
