This painting began with a loose gestural application of dark paint, and makes use of memory, happenstance, and unexpected mark making to evoke memory of a day in the Virginia countryside.

Margaret Carroll | Fink-Leanne-Oh Faithful of the Light SunAt the Dead Sea in Jordan the atmosphere is thick that is almost palpable. On my first evening, I watched the sun set to the west over the hills on the Israeli side. Civilizations have been visiting the sea for thousands of years for rejuvenation and renewal. I have become one of the faithful.
Oh Faithful of the Light, Sun, and Sea is one painting from Leanne's 'Cradle of Life' Collection.

Hopkins, Laura-Landscape Study 56I love painting these small studies. They allow me an opportunity to experiment with compositions and color harmonies that often lead to larger paintings. They serve as something of a playground for me. I can try out my ideas on a smaller scale.

Anne Reid | Hopkins, Laura-August AnvilThis painting of a beautifully majestic cloud viewed from my home is a result of a more contemplative and reflective approach to my work. I frequently paint an entire painting in one go, with only a few minor adjustments after it is dry. For this painting, after the first pass dried, I employed thin transparent glazes and thin layers of opaque paint (scumbles) to attempt to capture the heat and humidity of an August Afternoon.
