Coleman_Karen_Hope is the Thing with FeaI was amazed at the this Carolina Wren that tried to take a shoelace from my old shoe. After working in the garden, I had left them on my back deck. When I came back later, there was this small bird attempting this impossible task. Carolina Wrens are known for using fragments of a wide variety of materials in their nests in the spring. The bird’s tireless efforts reminded me of the beloved Emily Dickinson poem. Hope is the Thing with Feathers Colored pencil 22.5 x 25 $700 Karen Coleman | Hopkins, Laura-Spring Afternoon, Unison,This scene is on Unison Rd about a mile from my house. Holz, Patricia Taylor-Singapore Pitch OrSingapore Pitch Orchid Watercolor and acrylic on paper 27 x 33 $800 Patricia Taylor Holz | Scherer-Sylvia Acrylic-Gold Leaf RITE OFIn Japan the end of Winter is marked by the gentle burst of Sakura or cherry flowers. A RITE OF SPRING from time immemorial brings hope and optimism as the blossoms suggest renewal with the birth of the season. Yet, the blooms are short lived and thus call our attention to the fleeting nature of life. The complex gilding of the branches used a variety of gold leaves in order to give texture to the aged bark. For this painting, I had wanted to paint a white bouquet for months before I found one I could use as my subject. Finally my patience was rewarded, and I set aside the other things I was working on so that I could paint this one before the flowers died. The Invitation Acrylic 18 x 22 $575 Kim T. Richards |

Miller, Pamela-BlueMorning-PhotoBlue Morning Photography 13 x 9 $90 Pamela Miller | Sharpe, Susan-MarchAfter the first few warm days & a soaking rain, the grass turns suddenly green & the tulip poplars begin to leaf out. The grays of winter give way, but softly at first. Mornings are often foggy. I have been doing a lot of experiments with the color green, using different blues & yellows, warm & cool. Other effects come from adding a drop of red or a bit of white. During the pandemic, nothing made me forget its problems like mixing colors. Reid, Anne-Main Street, WarrentonMain Street, Warrenton Mixed media 11 x 8 $225 Anne Reid | Remington, Justine-Robin-PastelWhen I see my yard filled with dozens of robins on the ground, looking for worms, I know my favorite season is coming ¬— spring. Spring is a time of rebirth, renewal and hope, when the cold earth warms causing the trees and flowers to wake from their winter slumber. Robins are the harbingers of spring. Robin-Harbinger of Spring Soft Pastel on Paper 14 x 14 $120 Justine Remington | Hindle, Stuart Allison-Sunflower GardenMy inspiration comes from nature itself. I find compositions with light that enables me to push the color and depth that draws the viewers into the painting. By working in small brush strokes, I slowly watch the painting come to life in my studio from photos that I have taken around the world. I call my work “realistic impressionism”. By playing with color, light and texture, I try to create an original experience. Sunflower Garden Oil 26 x 26 $1,295 Stuart Allison Hindle |

When I came upon this field after a storm, I was struck by the contrast of the blue-gray clouds & the bright yellow flowers & drawn in by the diagonal lines, perhaps pointing me to some destination? I enjoyed creating this painting—it’s exciting to watch the scene develop beneath my hand, acquiring more depth with each layer of pastel.
