![]() This pictorial sculptural vista creates my rendition of the prehistoric under water creatures. Much of eastern Virginia was a shallow sea in the Miocene Epoch, 23-5 million years ago. ![]() The Dolly Sods wilderness area in West Virginia is the southernmost sub-arctic tundra in North America. At an elevation of 4,000 feet it is characterized by stunted trees and granite landscapes. Subject to fierce storms the rain quickly fills the cavities in the stone, as you can see in this image. ![]() Deer Island, Canada, near the Bay of Fundy, has some of the highest tides in the world. The difference between high and low tide here is 23 feet, and the water moves rapidly. I am inspired by rivers and lakes of the region especially during autumn when the fall colors are at their peak. The colorful fall foliage is reflected in the water -- creating specks of color in a few areas. The background is comprised of the distant trees on the far side of the river.
