Best in Show Have you ever met someone and realized you were not alone after all? These creatures have each found a friend in the other. Snail-cats and seal-owls are recurring motifs in my work. Perhaps they represent my continuing search for wonder and friends through art! These zebras were viewed by my daughter traversing a sting pond. There was a drought at that time in Kenya. She sent the photo to me and I documented the zebras in oil. Enjoy!! Papa bear decided to explore beyond his usual hunting ground. He stumbled upon a hidden cave that would be perfect for mama bear and baby bear in the winter. The Ruby-throated Hummingbird returns every year to feed on the Coral Honeysuckle growing at my front door. To me, the interaction of this tiny bird with our colorful native plant appears as an annual dance of pollination. While walking along the Irish coast, this robin was sitting on a stone wall and posed for us while we took pictures. I always have found the European Robin adorable. Mesmerized by a pair of cranes as they landed on the top of a tower. So striking to watch them "Dance". I was lucky enough to catch them with a clear background. To enhance the boldness of these two magnificent birds I framed this Giclee Print surrounded in Black. She drew our eyes as she came out of the dark wilderness. She craved rescue, but didn't want to LOOK like she was desperate. This Abyssinian was royalty, so she straightened her drama queen crown and found a family to be her retinue. And of course, had her portrait painted. Then he realized that a creature of an entirely different species (me) truly appreciated his magnificent display. A rare find on the James River near Richmond. They make their home in the rushes on the river bank and the deep brush usually hides them. And while the eagles are there year round, the ospreys are only found in the spring and summer, migrating south for the winter. I became more interested in eagles after following the story of the famous Shadow and Jackie this year and their steadfast refusal to give up on getting their eggs to hatch. Though they were not successful, I understand that their devotion to each other continues and they will try again very shortly. The hawk represented in this work is named Sully, he was hand-raised and taught to hunt by local falconers, to give him a better chance at survival before being released to the wild.
