The Stephen C. Jameson
Young Artist Scholarship

AiM is pleased to announce the Stephen C. Jameson Young Artist Scholarship to provide young artists, in our local area, an opportunity to further explore an area or technique of art with a professional artist.

To qualify you must:

  • Be between the ages of 10 - 24

  • Live within 50 miles of AiM

  • Be a Student Member of AiM, free up to 18 yrs., reduced price for 18+ with school ID

  • Submit the application, blue button

  • Submit three examples of your artwork

  • Submit a short essay 

  • Participate in an interview with the scholarship committee

  • The scholarship will provide the young artist with up to 16 hours of instruction with a professional artist.

Information:

AiM is pleased to announce the creation of the Stephen C. Jameson Young Artist Scholarship to provide an incubator for young artistic talent in the local area and to increase the number of young members in AiM. We invite budding young artists to apply for the 2026 scholarship that will provide for up to 16 hours of custom personal instruction from AIM’s best artists over the year.

 

This scholarship was established to honor Dr. Stephen C. Jameson a global leader in coral reef conservation and lover of the arts.

 

To add an ecological educational dimension, young artists will also receive interesting outdoor experiences as part of the scholarship program.

 

To apply, students between the ages of 10 and 24 should submit samples of their art and interview with the Stephen C. Jameson Young Artist Scholarship Committee before December 1, 2025. The winner will be announced in late December, 2025.

AIM Operational Details

 

Location of Instruction: AiM gallery, natural outdoor settings and other approved locations.

 

Instruction and Instructors: will be custom tailored by the Stephen C. Jameson Young Artist Scholarship Committee to the needs and desires of the young artist. To add the ecological educational dimension of the scholarship, the instructors will arrange for interesting outdoor experiences.

 

Artist Payment: participating AiM instructors will be paid $25/hour for up to 16 hours of instruction.

 

Administration Costs: up to $100 of the $500/year can be used to cover administration costs.

 

Type of Art Supported: can include all forms of visual art – no boundaries (i.e., sculpture, painting, ceramics, glass, flowers, photography, etc.,).

 

Stephen C. Jameson Young Artist Scholarship Committee Membership: determined by the AiM Executive Director.

Artists in Middleburg is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
