 A few of my favorite things . . . peonies, a blue willow dish, and a beautiful fan. I love how the composition spills from the back to front with a staccato note of red. A crimson bloom burns at the heart of silk and shadow — the red peony, fierce with meaning, surrounded by tender petals and whispers of porcelain. East and West meet in stillness and grace.  Colorful bouquet of tulips picked at the Burnside Tulip Farm tickled my fancy. The air was crisp and the colors really stood out in the sun. I painted these sunflowers on red to create a striking vignette with contrasting colors.  This is a photograph of a real truck in a friend's corn field that I feel has a lot of stories to tell. I would almost fade into the corn if it weren't for the rusty red color of the truck.  I love photographing birds. The red-headed woodpecker was a frequent visitor in my yard this past winter. I enjoyed being able to capture them.  This montage combines two images to create a dramatic and darker mood where the queen’s face becomes almost abstract. I like how the textures of the brick and metal screen come through, creating depth and interest. For these red flowers, I used that technique. I then painted the hummingbird in oil on top of the acrylic abstract, which creates beautiful movement across the entire canvas.
